Loans Canada is free to use. You never pay us to compare lenders, read our guides, use our calculators or apply through our platform. Here's how we keep the lights on, and why it matters to you.

We earn referral fees from our partners

Loans Canada is a loan comparison platform, not a lender. When you apply through Loans Canada, we refer your request to lenders and other financial service providers in our network who may be able to help. Those partners include lenders, debt relief providers, credit building companies and credit card issuers.

When we refer you to a partner, or when you click through to a partner from our website and apply, that partner may pay us a referral fee. The fee is paid by the partner. You never pay Loans Canada anything.

Your rate, loan amount and terms are set by the lender, based on its own review of your application. Loans Canada doesn't make lending decisions.

Our goal: helping Canadians research before they borrow

Referral fees are how we fund the rest of the site, and most of it has nothing to sell. Our goal is to help Canadians research their options before they borrow: guides on loans, credit and debt, calculators, lender profiles and customer reviews, all free and with no sign-up.

Our articles are written and reviewed by our editorial team, and we update them when rates, rules or products change.

How we rate lenders and products

Our lender ratings follow a published methodology: five weighted criteria covering cost and transparency, terms and funding, access and eligibility, trust and compliance, and customer experience. Read our review methodology to see what we check and how each criterion is scored.

What we will never do

  • Charge you a fee to compare options or apply.
  • Ask you for an upfront fee, deposit or insurance payment to get a loan. Neither Loans Canada nor its partners will ever do this. If anyone asks, it's a scam.

We only share your application with partners in our network who may be able to help with your request. Read our Privacy Policy for details, or contact us with any questions.
