If the local Cineplex, SilverCity or Scotiabank movie theatre is one of your favourite destinations for a good night out, getting a SCENE Card is most likely worthwhile.

After all, not only can you use your card to earn SCENE loyalty points, it can even help you save a bit of money when you’re at the movies, shopping online or dining out. Find out how to earn SCENE points and maximize your rewards.

What Is The SCENE Card Loyalty Program

Thanks to a partnership between Cineplex Entertainment and Scotiabank, SCENE is the first and only entertainment loyalty program available in Canada. As a member, you can also get your own SCENE Card, which you can then use to earn and redeem reward points on the movie tickets, food and drinks you buy at participating locations.

How To Earn Scene Points

At the moment, Cineplex operates just over 160 theatres across Canada, including brands like Cineplex Odeon, Silver City, Scotiabank Theaters and Cineplex VIP Cinemas, all of which will allow you to use your SCENE Card upon purchase.

You’ll have the ability to earn loyalty points by presenting your SCENE card whenever you buy items from these participating locations. If shopping online, you can accomplish the same goal by entering your membership number.

Here’s a basic rundown of the SCENE Loyalty Program points structure:

  • Movie ticket, food counter and Cineplex store purchases = 5 points per $1 spent
Type Of PurchasePoints Earned
1 x General admission
1 x 3D movie ticket
125 SCENE Points
1 x Adult Enhanced movie ticket200 SCENE Points

The amount of points you accumulate at other SCENE partner locations depends on their specific policies. Otherwise, 1 SCENE Point is equal to $0.01 CAD and you’re able to start redeeming your points for rewards as soon as you accumulate 500 of them.

There are even hundreds of popular stores, entertainment outlets, travel companies and chain restaurants that accept SCENE Cards in exchange for rewards, such as:

  • Best Buy
  • Eastside Marios
  • Apple
  • Harvey’s
  • Rakuten
  • Swiss Chalet

  1. Register for your SCENE membership – Go to www.scene.ca/enrollment and sign up for a SCENE account. To do this, you’ll have to enter various personal details, such as your name, address, date of birth, email and phone number(s).
  1. Choose what type of SCENE Card you want – Although many SCENE members will ask to receive a physical card in the mail, you can also download the SCENE mobile app on your smart device (available for Android or iOS).

After your membership is activated, don’t forget to use your SCENE Card, code or app within the first 90 days of joining if you want your 250 point bonus.

SCENE Point FAQs

How much are 1,000 SCENE points worth?

The value of your SCENE points varies depending on how you’ve earned it and what you redeem it for.

How do I check my SCENE points?

There are two ways to find out how many SCENE points you’ve accumulated. You can check by logging into your account at sceneplus.ca or by logging into Scotia OnLine or the Scotiabank App. Keep in mind that points are updated every 2 – 3 days and that the total amount you’ve earned includes those from your SCENE Card and eligible Scotiabank payment cards.

How do I claim my SCENE points?

To claim (or collect) SCENE points, just shop online or in-store at participating locations and present an eligible card. If you’ve accumulated enough points, the customer service agent, website or payment device should give you the option of redeeming them.

How Many SCENE Points do I need for a free movie?

It depends on the kind of movie ticket you want to redeem. As of April 17 (2019), you’ll need one of these minimum SCENE points amounts to get a free movie at Cineplex:
  • 1,250 points for an Adult General Admission or 3D ticket.
  • 2,000 points for an Adult Enhanced ticket (Ultra AVX, D-Box, IMAX).
  • 2,500 points for a VIP Cinemas ticket.

Looking To Make The Most Of Your Scene Membership?

If that’s your goal, don’t hesitate to present your SCENE card wherever it’s accepted. That way, you can earn as many SCENE points as possible and redeem them to save money in the future. Check out the SCENE or Scotiabank website to see more details about the program or the participating movie theatres, restaurants and stores near you.
