What Are Ownr Grants?

Ownr’s mission is to inspire and enable entrepreneurship in Canada, supporting the growth and sustainability of small business owners and entrepreneurs. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the small business community, and though there are federal and provincial support programs for entrepreneurs, many may not meet the eligibility requirements. In partnership with RBC, Ownr has launched the Ownr Grant initiative to support Canadian entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19.

Starting a business can be a long road, especially during these challenging times, and Ownr hopes to inspire Canadian entrepreneurs to survive and thrive, with Ownr Grants. Ready to apply? Read on for more details about Ownr Grants so you can send in a great application.

How Much Are Ownr Grants?

The Ownr Grant initiative is a $25,000 fund, with individual grants of up to $1,000 for successful applicants.

Who Is eligible?

Aspiring entrepreneurs with a great idea for a new business can apply for the grant.

Also, existing businesses in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, with less than $1,000,000 in revenue and less than ten employees, are eligible to apply. Regardless of if you are a sole proprietor or a corporation, as long as you fit these geographical and financial guidelines, you can apply for an Ownr Grant.

Special consideration will be given to existing businesses who have pivoted, or plan to pivot to a new venture or market due to economic challenges. So for example, your business may need to pivot to support Canadians during these challenging times by re-thinking your business model or providing a much needed service to new clients in a new market.

If you are a new business or have a business idea, your application will be reviewed based on the quality of your concept.

How Do I Apply?

To apply for an Ownr Grant and find out the detailed information you must include in your application, check out the Ownr Grants page here.

Applications are due by Friday, May 22, 2020, at 8:00 pm EST.

Successful applicants will be contacted by the Ownr team directly to identify a suitable form of payment, no later than June 5, 2020.

Detailed terms of the Ownr Grant initiative can be found here.
