When you buy assets, like properties and vehicles, you must insure them so that you’re financially covered if anything unexpected happens to them. For instance, home and car insurance are two necessary forms of protection, not just financially but in the legal sense too. After all, you can’t drive a car without insurance and all lenders require you to have home insurance before approving you for a mortgage.

If you don’t want to get caught off guard by those problems, then maybe it’s time to start looking for a reliable source of home and car insurance near you, like YouSet.

Who Is YouSet?

YouSet is an online broker platform with offices in Toronto and Montreal. Its mission is to connect its clients with multiple home and car insurance providers in order to find them the most affordable policies and premiums possible. Their company is licensed by the provincial or territorial regulatory body in each region of the country they serve.

At the moment, YouSet’s services are only available to Quebec residents but they have plans to expand further throughout Canada soon enough. They’ve also partnered with a number of recognized insurance companies, such as Intact and Optimum.

What Does YouSet Offer?

As mentioned, YouSet offers home and car insurance services. They can help you find a transparent, personalized coverage policy by implementing the latest smart technology and managing thousands of different algorithms with your needs in mind. You can even get a free quote in less than 4 minutes.

Benefits Of YouSet

While YouSet is a fairly new company, there are a number of benefits to using them, including:

  • Policy Comparisons – YouSet’s smart broker technology compares a variety of home and car insurance policies and lists the best options for your situation.
  • Fast Process – You can apply entirely online in under 10 minutes. Once your policy is activated, the coverage and claims processes are quick too.
  • Free Support – YouSet can provide you with free customer support, as well as a free 30-minute consultation with a lawyer if you decide to file a claim.
  • Good Security – YouSet uses industry-leading security protocols to protect your personal information and will never share your data with anyone but your insurer.

How Does YouSet Work?

YouSet’s approval process can be completed on their website with these simple steps:

  • Step 1) Apply and Answer Questions – Start by answering a few questions about your general health and the type of insurance coverage you want.
  • Step 2) Get Offers – If you’re eligible, YouSet will use that information to build you a list of different coverage offers issued by their partner insurers.
  • Step 3) Customize Your Policy – Lastly, pick your car or home insurance policy and, if necessary, adjust its conditions to better suit you (coverage, term, etc.).

Shortly after you enter your payment details and finalize the purchase of your policy, you’ll receive a confirmation email from the YouSet team and will officially be insured.

How To Make A Claim With YouSet?

Luckily, filing a home or car insurance claim with YouSet is almost as easy as applying:

Step 1: Gather Your Documents

To complete your claim, you’ll need to give the YouSet team several key pieces of information, including:

  • Your insurance policy number
  • A description of the incident that led to your claim
  • The date and time at which the incident occurred
  • Any other relevant information, like police or damage reports

Step 2: Contact Your Insurance Company

When you applied for insurance through YouSet they will have connected you with an insurance provider, you need to get in contact with that company when making a claim. YouSet likely connected you with one of the following insurance providers:

  • April: 1-866-692-8482
  • Aviva: 1-855-745-1010
  • Economical: 1-888-875-8088
  • Intact: 1-866-464-2424
  • La Garantie: 1-888-998-1872
  • Ledor: 1-800-441-1341
  • L’Unique: 1-800 463-4800
  • Optimum: 1-800-361-7653
  • Pafco: 1-877-463-2727
  • Promutuel: 1-855-277-2424
  • RSA: 1-800-319-9993

Step 3: Receive Help If You Need It

As an extra measure, YouSet can also offer you a free 30-minute consultation with a lawyer during the claims process.

Cost Of Using YouSet

YouSet is a commission-based brokerage, which means they take a portion of the proceeds from any deals their partner insurance companies confirm, rather than charging you directly for your premium. The YouSet platform itself is totally free to use and you won’t have to pay any fees. Your only cost will be the cost of purchasing your insurance policy.

Why Choose YouSet For Your Insurance Needs

Here are some other advantages to becoming a YouSet client (apart from those above):

  • How Much You Can Save – Remember, YouSet can put you in touch with multiple providers to match you with the best home and/or car insurance deals possible. YouSet claims that most clients save an average of 29% on their home or car insurance.
  • No Agents – It can often be a hassle to speak with a broker or agent and answer all the same questions from your application, only to receive a premium that’s more expensive than your quote. However, that isn’t a problem with YouSet.
  • You Don’t Have to Negotiate – YouSet generates the best prices when you apply, so you won’t have to haggle with a third-party broker or agent just to get insured. You can also turn your quote into an active policy with a few extra clicks.
  • Cancellation Policy – You’re allowed to switch insurers whenever you want and, if you’ve paid for a full term, you can cancel your policy and get money back on a prorated basis. There will be a cancellation policy equal to one month’s payment.

YouSet FAQs

Will I be charged cancellation fees with YouSet?

Yes, if you choose to cancel your home insurance or car insurance policy ahead of its original termination date, you’ll be charged a penalty of about one month’s payment.

Can I modify my policy with YouSet?

Not only can you adjust your home or car insurance policy before buying it, YouSet even lets you make changes after the fact. All you have to do is visit the My Account section of their website and request the adjustments online. Soon after, YouSet will modify your policy’s conditions as needed and send you an updated copy.

Can I add someone else to my policy?

Yes. During the application process, YouSet will ask if you want to add another person to your home or car insurance policy (just before they request your banking details). While you can only add one extra client, for the time being, doing so is completely free.

Is YouSet an insurance provider?

YouSet does not provide its own insurance policies. They’re actually a damage insurance brokerage firm that’s registered with the AMF (Autorité des marchés financiers) under registration number 603592. Any insurance home or auto coverage policies they connect you with are created and issued by YouSet’s partner insurers.

Final Thoughts

YouSet’s brokerage process is fast, easy and affordable, with minimal requirements and customizable insurance policies that suit your financial preferences.
