Today we’re happy to announce the winner of our Loans Canada Financial Literacy Scholarship for Summer 2021. Continuing to help Canadian students meet both their educational and financial goals, through our scholarship, is a project the entire Loans Canada team is really proud of.

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that the winner of our Summer 2021 Financial Literacy Scholarship is Matthew Tran. Matthew is heading to the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University next year.

Matthew Tran

About Matthew

Heading to Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business next year, this scholarship will allow me to focus more on studies and volunteering instead of working long hours. I am grateful to have been chosen and have the opportunity to write about the importance of financial literacy as a youth and how it motivated my fundraising initiatives with my high school’s music program and the Hot Potato Initiative Foundation, which supported my music studies and providing individuals experiencing homelessness with hygiene items, food and more. Most importantly, financial literacy allowed me to reflect on my leadership and goals. Thank you to Loans Canada for funding this scholarship.
