About Chelsea
I am a commerce student at Dalhousie University, majoring in accounting. My understanding of financial literacy has enabled me to further my studies and advance my professional development. I started learning about financial literacy when I accepted an extracurricular position as a general member of PennyDrops non-profit. This organization focuses on educating youth on the importance of financial knowledge and how they can leverage these tools to set themselves up for success. I harvested the skills I had learned over my involvement in PennyDrops and decided that I would start a side hustle to help pay down the cost of my tuition. I launched a virtual thrift shop to help embrace my passion for sustainable fashion. Typically, second-hand clothing is thought of as dull and outdated. My store focused on sustainably sourcing stylish pieces and marketing them in a way that youth could connect with. My understanding of budgeting, cost management and business practices helped drive my business to success.
